What is City Place? It is an area that is not as hidden as you think. I have lived here for over 2 years now and if you want to see where the locals go, this should be one of your first spots. City Place stretches from Spadina and Bremner to Bathurst and Fort York. The first thing you will see are the large amount of condo buildings in the area. There are quite a few people who live here and therefore there are lots of places to eat, sleep and play!  The beauty about this area is that everything is within walking distance. There are tons of hidden restaurants, activities and services for you to try. Here are some of my favourites:

Eat

1. Hunters Landing

Before heading to a Toronto Blue Jays game, I would walk over to their patio watch some of the pregame highlights with a pitcher of Sangria. It is an excellent location if you are craving good food before chowing down cracker jacks and beer at the game. I would highly suggest the pulled pork poutine as well as the appetizer mac and cheese. These are both my go-tos.

2. TexMex Bar

Just next door from Hunters Landing is one of my favourite mexican restaurants.  I go there for the drink specials as well as the tacos. This place is great especially in the summer as they have screens outside as well to enjoy a bit of TFC and Blue Jays action.

3. Fox and the Fiddle

This bar offers one of the more reasonably priced drinks in the city. Whether it is a Friday night or a Sunday morning, I love coming here since they have it all. They have a drink special every night and on the weekends they have a brunch special.  If you decide to visit on the weekend they also have live music playing while you enjoy drinks and dinner with friends.

1) Ice Skating Rink

Not many people know this, but there is a skating rink in Cityplace that you can skate in for free. As long as you have your own pair of skates it is normally quite empty. It is located in between Fort York & Brunel and Fort York & Dan Leckie Way. There are always a few people there playing a game of hockey but there is more than enough room to share.  The rink should be back in December so check it out!

Spa

I was not kidding when I said that Cityplace has everything you need. If you are stressed from a day of exploring the city and looking for an hour or so to relax, I would suggest looking into the Dan Leckie Hot and Stone Massage.   It is conveniently a 5 minute walk from the lake so far exploring lakeshore, you take an hour for yourself to enjoy a massage.

3) Organic Nail Bar

This is one of my favourite spots to go to for a manicure/pedicure. They have many options at different pricing according to what you want. Just like the name says, they have quality organic options available for every client that walks in.  Located on Fort York and Bathurst, this is one of my go-to spots when it’s time to spend on me.

These are just SOME of the best spots in Cityplace. There are times where I miss the quiet suburban life. All it takes, is a stroll down the street and already it feels like being back on my childhood street.
