This year 889 yoga has partnered with Lululemon and The Thompson Hotel again to create your ideal summer yoga experience. Every summer, teachers, students would gather at the Thompson hotel rooftop every Saturday to practice under the sun.  To kick off summer of 2018, Jodi Fischtein, one of my longtime favorite yoga teachers, is hosting a kick-off event this Thursday, June 21st @ 5:30pm at the Thompson Hotel Rooftop.  There will be deep house music and plenty of yoga poses. The event is $5 and all proceeds go to support children’s school in Antigua. Bring your own mat and get ready to sweat!

Even when I travel there are 2 things I need to do before I get my day started – search for a cup of coffee to start my day and head to a gym class. ENGAGE YOUR CORE

“Engage your core!”  I hear it on repeat in every class I attend whether it’s yoga, barre, or even cycling. I sometimes feel this is almost an impossible task when other parts of my body are already aching and exhausted. However, what I have learned is that engaging your core actually often leads to less dependence on other parts of your body, relieving the stress and aching in that particular area. We often associate certain movements and exercises with one part of the body as opposed to viewing the movement in its entirety.
