Play @ Electric Island Part III
/On August 11th, Electric Island opened their gates once again for the third time this year for another eventful day of partying on Hanlan's Point. This was personally my first time attending the event and by far, one of my favourite festivals of the summer. From the incredible weather, partygoers and the music, everything was perfect.
Our afternoon started off by taking the Tiki ferry at Spadina and Queens Quay to Hanlan’s Point (costs $10 per person). After a quick 5 minute ride across the water, we can slowly hear the music in the distance as we approached the island.
Once we stepped on land, everyone cheered as we prepared for another amazing event. From the moment you step in, you know it’s time to dance. We immediately went to the main stage where we heard some of the best DJs including Jonathan Rosa, Sydney Blu and Shiba San. Green Velvet closed the night out with an incredible 2 hour set. He was by far, my favourite act of the night. There is no better feeling then dancing to the beats of techno and deep house while watching the sun go down and the stage light up.
If you are looking for something different and away from main stream tunes on the radio, this is the event for you. The only thing I would suggest from everyone attending is to leave 30 minutes before the event ends to catch the ferry. It is free on the way back and the lines can be very long. If you decide to stay until the end, just stay patient and remember…..It’s all worth it!
As summer slowly comes to an end, there is no better way then to finish it up in style as Electric Island will be hosting their 2 day finale weekend next week! Please join us and everyone else on Sunday, September 2nd and Monday, September 3rd for the their 2 day finale. See you there!
