If you are a fan of the show MasterChef, you need to visit Canada’s very own Claudio Aprile’s restaurant at Copetin. Chef Claudio is a judge on MasterChef Canada but has also been wowing diners in Toronto with his innovative cooking for almost 20 years at various restaurants. If you are visiting the Financial District or walking around St. Lawrence Market, this should be your next stop!

Copetin has Canada’s only customized “Botanist Bar” with a built in herb garden. You can handpick the seasonings you want to liven up any cocktails which is made up of Chef Claudio’s original sous-vide fruit infusions and The Botanist dry gin distilled in Islay with 22 forged island botanicals. If you are visiting during the summer months, definitely check out the patio.

The restaurant has a very laid back feel and has a lot of unique paintings scattered throughout. The bar is beautifully lit up (very instagrammable) and the kitchen is open concept so you can watch the chefs at work. For a truly unique and customized experience, you can book a seat at the Chef’s table where Chef Claudio will design a menu specifically for you. This needs to be booked ahead of time so make sure you contact Copetin ahead of your visit.

Here are some of our favorite dishes:

Sea Scallops ($35)

Thai curry + coconut + taro root

Japanese octo ball + agi mayo + stick soy ($5)

Bone marrow + apricot chutney + grilled bread ($16)

The sweetness of the apricot chutney pairs amazingly well with the bone marrow.

Pollenator ($16)

Chamomile-infused Bombay sapphire gin + yuzu juice + maple syrup + peach bitters

Not only is this drink sweet and full of unique flavors, the glass is also decorated with pretty flowers and herbs.

La Plancha Octopus ($24)

Green curry + crème fraiche + grapefruit + compressed cucumber + jicama

Citrus Moon($25)

This is a must try at the end of the night. This is presented on a plate as a white chocolate dome and when you smash it open with a spoon, you reveal the perfect little citrusy tart with white chocolate scattered around the plate. Perfect way to end your meal.
